The image features a joyful moment between a father and his young daughter. The father, wearing glasses and a dark knitted sweater, holds his daughter on his lap. She appears delighted, with a smile on her face and her hand playfully covering her mouth. They are seated against a rustic backdrop with a weathered white door and peeling paint, enhancing the warmth and candidness of the scene. The father’s affectionate gaze towards his daughter highlights a tender and loving interaction.

ActiveSGV is a proud coalition partner of Our Future Los Angeles, uniting with nonprofits, community advocates, and concerned citizens to address the escalating homelessness crisis in Los Angeles County. This initiative focuses on improving housing policies and creating affordable housing to bridge the gap between aspiration and meaningful impact.

Our Future LA is spearheading a citizen-led legislative agenda to tackle high housing costs, the primary cause of homelessness in the area. This community-driven ballot measure aims to increase affordable housing and enhance mental health and substance use services for thousands of vulnerable individuals. It also includes built-in accountability and public oversight to guard against wasteful spending.

The coalition is also committed to advocating for the protection of informal workers, helping them transition from the informal to the formal economy to access better resources and protections. It also addresses outdated zoning codes and discriminatory practices that exacerbate the housing crisis and homelessness. Through partnerships with organizations like ActiveSGV, the coalition works to streamline funding and policy reforms to protect renters and build more low-income housing efficiently. Strengthening tenant rights is also a priority, and ensuring tenants are protected from unfair rent increases, evictions, and harassment by advocating for legal counsel and legislative reforms.
