Better food on the table and better air at home, free for renters in El Monte and South El Monte.

Most renters pay high energy bills because of the old appliances in their homes. EmpowerRent is here to help! We are offering 50 households in El Monte and South El Monte free energy-efficient appliances for cleaner air. You are welcome to join our fun cooking workshops, community events, and easy tips to lower your electric bill. It is completely free to join, and no landlord approval is needed!

So Fresh...

We love good food! Join us for a fun, family-friendly cooking workshop led by a local chef at the Jeff Seymour Family Center. You will learn how induction cooktops work, see how quickly they heat up, and learn how they keep your home's air clean. Best of all, you get to taste the delicious food! Bring your family and your appetite.

So Clean...

Breathing clean air at home is important. Every participating family gets free, portable, high-efficiency equipment. Enjoy cleaner air, less dust, quiet operation, and lower energy costs. You can pick up your items at a local event, or we can drop them off at your home. Our team will also show you quick and easy ways to save energy while keeping your home comfortable.

Who Can Join

Are you a renter in El Monte or South El Monte? We’d love for you to join! We are opening spots for 25 families in El Monte with Day One, and 25 families in South El Monte with ActiveSGV. Everyone is welcome, regardless of immigration status. Our sign-up form will be available in English, Spanish, Chinese, and Vietnamese.

How to Sign Up

Signing up is quick and easy! Fill out our short online form to choose the items best for your home. We will contact you to confirm your spot and let you know when to get your new equipment. You can also sign up in person at our events, or connect with us by phone or email.

EmpowerRent is a partnership between ActiveSGV and Day One. Both non-profit groups have worked alongside San Gabriel Valley families for years. We created this program together with guidance from local residents to best serve our community.
