Crop Swap!

Location
El Monte and Pomona
Project Category
Health and Wellness
Status
Ongoing

ActiveSGV is hosting Crop Swaps to help neighbors access fresh, healthy food while making the most of what we grow at home. These events make it easy to share extra fruits, vegetables, herbs, and seedlings, so nothing goes to waste and more people can enjoy local produce. Crop Swaps also create a space to connect, learn from each other, and build stronger, more self-sufficient communities. By bringing people together around food, ActiveSGV is helping families save money, eat well, and take part in a more sustainable way of living, with support from Care First Community Investment and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

The ActiveSGV Rain Gardens Team invites you to volunteer with us! Together we’ll be transforming a barren field into a vibrant native garden and outdoor education center. The land will be a refuge for the community; containing walking paths, resting areas, an outdoor classroom, and nature play spaces. It is also an earth-healing landscape; providing shade, water and carbon capture, and biodiversity protection. The first step in the process is to sheet-mulch the entire area, in order to prepare the soil and eradicate the weeds. We would love your help with this!
