The South El Monte Electric Car Share Program, part of the Clean Mobility Options (CMO) initiative, offers a convenient and sustainable alternative to vehicle ownership. This program allows residents to access zero-emission vehicles when they need them, without the expenses of maintenance and ownership. It’s designed to reduce the community’s carbon footprint and improve air quality by providing access to clean transportation options.
Through an easy-to-use app, residents can reserve, unlock, and drive electric vehicles, and then return them to the same charging station. The program operates from the South El Monte Community Center, making it accessible to local residents. Car sharing benefits the environment by reducing the number of individual cars on the road, thus lowering greenhouse gas emissions. This initiative is a partnership between The Energy Coalition, Mobility Development, ActiveSGV, and the City of South El Monte.
Funded by California Climate Investments and the California Energy Commission’s Clean Transportation Program, this car share program demonstrates the commitment to building a more sustainable transportation network. By empowering communities with zero-emission vehicles, it supports the state’s goal of reducing greenhouse gases and improving public health.
