The Bassett Avocado Heights Advanced Energy Community (BAAEC) CarShare program offers residents the opportunity to experience electric vehicle (EV) driving firsthand while promoting renewable energy and reducing pollution. Funded by the California Energy Commission, this initiative provides a 2-month trial of a pre-owned EV, complete with a FREE EV charger installation at your home.

Key Features:

  • EV Car Trial: Test drive a pre-owned EV for 2 months at a cost of only $100 per week. Flexible payment options are available, and you don't need your own car insurance.
  • Free EV Charger: Receive a free EV charger installed at your home, making charging convenient and accessible.
  • Earn Money Sharing: Potentially earn money by sharing your charger with neighbors through the EVMatch app.
  • Cost Savings: Save money on gas and experience the benefits of electric driving.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be 21+ years old with at least 2 years of driving experience and a clean driving record.
  • Have a valid driver's license, working cell phone, and credit/debit card.
  • Be a single-family homeowner or renter.
  • Must not already own an EV or have an EV charger at home.
  • Allow neighbors to find your charger via the EVMatch app.
  • Must live within the designated service area, which includes the following cities and unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County: El Monte, South El Monte, City of Industry, La Puente, West Covina, Baldwin Park, and portions of unincorporated LA County (Bassett, Avocado Heights, Valinda, and West Puente Valley) as outlined in the provided map.

Upcoming Easy Access Events

The flyer promotes the “Easy Access Spring Bloom Ride,” a free 19-mile community bike ride with giveaways. It features an image of white and yellow Matilija poppies, bold blue and green text, and an illustration of pink flowers. The event takes place on April 5, 2025, starting at Jeff Seymour Family Center in El Monte and traveling to the Santa Fe Dam Nature Center.
