The Dr. Beatriz Solis Scholarship, in memory of Dr. Beatriz Solis (1962-2020), aims to support high school seniors pursuing higher education. Funded by Transtech Engineers, Inc., this scholarship honors Dr. Solis's dedication to vulnerable communities and social justice. We are proud to offer scholarships to students who embody her spirit of resilience and commitment to their education.

About Dr. Beatriz Solis

Dr. Beatriz Solis was a passionate advocate for vulnerable and disadvantaged communities. A UCLA graduate with undergraduate, master's, and doctorate degrees, she dedicated her career to bridging love and justice. As the Program Director of Healthy Communities at The California Endowment, she worked to infuse public health policies with economic, environmental, and racial justice perspectives. This scholarship reflects her enduring commitment to building healthy and equitable communities.

Scholarship Details

Scholarship Information

  • Award Amount: $700 - $1,000
  • Eligibility: High school seniors from La Puente High School, Roosevelt High School, Mendez High School, and students impacted by the Eaton Fire (Altadena/Pasadena).
  • GPA Requirement: None; applicants must provide a high school transcript.
  • Eligible Institutions: 4-year institutions, 2-year institutions, and accredited trade schools.
  • Areas of Interest: Special attention will be given to students with interest in History, Latin American Studies, Anthropology, Photography, Public Health, or Urban Planning, and a passion for social justice.
  • Application Deadline: Wednesday, April 30, 2025
  • Award Announcement: May 2025
  • Award Ceremony: June 2025 (Participation encouraged)

Application Requirements

  1. Completed responses to application questions (including 3 essays).
  2. High school transcript (unofficial accepted).
  3. Proof of enrollment for Fall 2025 (acceptance letter, SIR, or community college application).
  4. High-quality photo (for promotional purposes only).
