Staff Spotlight: Meet Adriana Pinedo - Learning & Development Coordinator

Adriana Pinedo is our first Learning & Development Coordinator at ActiveSGV, leading the hiring and onboarding process and training for all staff. Originally from Pomona, Adriana’s passion for meaningful community and civic engagement brought her to the team in 2019.

How did you get started working at ActiveSGV?

My first community bike ride was back in 2014, and I’ve been involved with the organization ever since. It’s been awesome to see it evolve into what it is today.

What do you like most about working with ActiveSGV?

“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” We have an amazing team that deeply cares about the work we do, and we perfectly gel together. I love that we all come from different backgrounds and expertise to create something great.

Favorite and memorable ActiveSGV experience:

I’m lucky to have attended every single 626 Golden Streets event!

If a friend from out of town were to visit, which place in the SGV would you take them to and why?

Coffee to kick off the day at Wish You Were Here in Downtown Pomona. We could take a walk around 2nd Street’s “Art Colony” and “Antique’s Row”, extra points if we do so during the Second Saturday Art Walk. For my vegan and vegetarian friends, we can hit up Borreguitas for some delicious meat-free Mexican food. If meat is your thing, we’d go to Pho Ha Vietnamese Restaurant, sit at a booth by the large windows, and try just about anything on the menu. A tour isn’t complete without taking you to my parent's house, where you can meet my lab, Storm, and sit under the huge Chinese Elm and eat whatever is in season from my mom’s garden. (Guavas and persimmons if you come right now. lol)

What are you currently listening to, reading, watching, or digging?

Listening: I’m really into the podcasts “Woo Woo with Rachel Dratch” and “Radiolab.” When I need music in the background, Spotify’s “Electrica Selvatica” is my favorite ( as my colleague Ariana calls it “Jungle EDM”)

Watching: I’m a sucker for Abbott Elementary and could watch any re-run just as if it were the first time. Friends, Family Guy, Sex and the City, Parks and Rec, Monk, The Office, anything. Extra points if I’ve already watched it a million times before.
