Our Saviour Center, winner of the Outstanding Community Organization Award, began its mission as an outreach of the Church of Our Saviour in San Gabriel. Established in 1985, this nonprofit, nonsectarian agency started as a modest food bank in a rented storefront, catering to the nutritional needs of El Monte's most vulnerable residents.

Through conversations with those seeking assistance, volunteers gained insights into deeper challenges such as healthcare, childcare, and housing. This led to the expansion of services, resulting in the provision of a Food Pantry, Emergency Temporary Housing, and Youth Development programs.

Still located in El Monte, an area facing poverty, racism, and violence, Our Saviour Center took on the role of a steadfast ally. With an enduring commitment to service, the organization collaborates with the community to address evolving needs effectively.

Our Saviour Center's recognition underscores its role as a catalyst for positive change. By offering comprehensive support and fostering unity, it exemplifies the potential of collective efforts to uplift society. Since its inception, the center continues to stand as a symbol of hope and resilience, a testament to the profound impact that compassionate action can achieve.

Join us on Thursday, September 21, at 6 PM for ActiveSGV's annual extravaganza and awards ceremony - "Noche de las Luminarias." We're bringing local advocates, city leaders, and honorees to celebrate our collective efforts and accomplishments in the San Gabriel Valley.
