Yvette Zea is a first-generation Latina graduate from Boyle Heights with a background in Sociology and Education from UCLA. Growing up in a low-income community, she became dedicated to addressing social justice issues such as educational and environmental inequities. Her early involvement in community service organizations included leading a tutoring and mentorship program for South Los Angeles schools, where she fostered connection, academic growth, and community among students and tutors. She later carried these experiences into the classroom as a teacher, continuing her commitment to supporting underrepresented communities and advocating for equitable opportunities.
In her free time, Yvette enjoys hiking with her two huskies, discovering new foods with her husband, and listening to true crime podcasts.
