Yvette Martinez is a strategic communications and policy advisor with over 20 years of experience managing campaigns, building diverse coalitions and directing community engagement programs. Yvette recently managed the coalition and campaign for Our Water LA/Measure W which passed in LA County in November 2018 with 69.45% of the vote. Measure W provides approximately $300 million in yearly funding for a safe and secure water future for Los Angeles County residents.
Yvette served as U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer’s Deputy State Director and worked in communities throughout California representing Senator Boxer on key policy initiatives such as protecting the environment, enhancing public safety and transportation measures, and expanding access to healthcare for children and families. Over the course of her career, she has worked on campaigns at all levels of the ballot, from local school board races to national presidential campaigns. In 2001, Yvette served as Congresswoman Solis’ District Chief of Staff, where she helped raise awareness on environmental justice issues in the San Gabriel Valley.
Yvette earned a B.A. in Political Science from UC Santa Barbara. She serves on the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles and on the Board of Commission for First 5 LA’s. Yvette lives in Whittier with her high school-aged teenagers who she lovingly calls her “twinsters.”
