Carmen is excited to be a part of GREEN SGV’s Rain Gardens program, which will transform turf-heavy residential landscapes into regenerative water-wise rain gardens throughout the San Gabriel Valley.
Through her previous roles in restoring fire-scarred areas of the Santa Monica Mountains and growing the urban forest in her hometown of El Monte, Carmen has developed a deep appreciation and respect for native plants, drought-tolerant trees, and the volunteers who care for them. Healthy ecosystems exemplify diversity and interconnected relationships, which she believes we should model to create a more beautiful and resilient world for all.
She enjoys reading, relaxing in nature, riding her bike, and practicing tarot in her free time.
