The Active Transportation Youth Fellowship Program aims to provide South El Monte youth with the opportunity to learn, engage, and grow as active community leaders.

This program offers youth leadership development opportunities and the experience to guide community-based research to improve the infrastructure and active transportation accessibility throughout South El Monte. This program will be both a virtual and in-person experience, starting in November 2024, and concluding in May 2025. Meeting sessions will occur as an in-person & virtual hybrid, about 1-2 times a month and will include local field trips.

Session topics include an introduction to Active Transportation (walking, biking, etc), Street Safety, the importance of data and social media, and public speaking.

In-Person activities include Bus/Metro rail tours, Group bike rides, and Walking tours.

ActiveSGV is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where all youth, including those with disabilities, can fully participate and thrive. Our program is committed to making reasonable accommodations to ensure students with disabilities have equal participation and access to this opportunity.

This is a great chance to get involved in your community and develop leadership skills! Six students will be selected to participate in this season’s fellowship, but spaces are limited, and applications must be submitted before the Friday, November 1st, deadline. This is a paid opportunity. All student participants will receive a stipend upon program completion.
